O Gauge (1:48)
"O" Gauge Trains were first manufactured in 1900 so they are the oldest of the Scales and probably the most recognized. We are Lionel's largest dealer and an authorized service station. A typical piece of rolling stock would measure 10 3/8" Long X 2 5/8" Tall . The gauge is popular for customers building a permanent tabletop layout with operating accessories and buildings or for those looking for a small layout around the Christmas tree. There are numerous operating accessories which adds “action” to your trains. O gauge is divided into two categories: Traditional O Gauge and O Scale.
Traditional O Gauge:
- Lionel’s popular Ready-To-Run Train Sets are traditional O Gauge and contain everything a customer needs to run their train – locomotive, rolling stock, oval of track, and power supply. Many are remote control and have train sounds as well as real puffing smoke. This is ideal for the first time buyer.
- Christmas theme trains are popular choices for layouts around the Christmas Tree. Start with a Christmas Train Set and add popular Christmas Trains each year. A great way to start a family holiday tradition
- A wide range of Locomotives, rolling stock and track products are available as well as operating and non-operating accessories to enhance your layout.
- Geared toward the beginner and less sophisticated hobbyist.
O Scale:
- More detailed and higher-end products designed to be replicas of the real full sized trains. Contains many small detailed parts.
- Engines have sophisticated electronics such as the Lionel Legacy Control System and Lionel RailSounds to bring “real train” sounds to your model train layout.
- Geared towards collectors and sophisticated hobbyists.
